DANCE DANCE & THE WORLD OF WORK Employment prospects: As a dancer you can work in a variety of genres including classical ballet, modern stage dance, contemporary dance, street dance and African or Asian dance. You may perform to a live audience or take part in a recorded performance for television, film or music video. Many dancers follow portfolio careers, combining performance with teaching, choreography or administrative work in a dance company. Is it for me? What will I learn? What can I do with it? You will enjoy this subject if:  You have a keen interest in Dance and/or you dance outside of school  You are interested in learning about new Dance styles  You enjoy working as part of a group and choreographing your own dances You will develop skills and knowledge in:  Cultivating your technical dance ability, specialising in both Jazz and Contemporary  The history of Dance and the choreographers who have influenced it  How to create your own choreography and watch it come to life    Further Education in Dance College Further Education in any form of Musical Theatre or Drama Higher Dance is now a recognised Higher at most universities (including Edinburgh University as of October 2018) Link to SQA Documents 9
