Keeping guests and employees
safe is a team effort
GROCERY SHOPPING from Pg 8
the stores.
Coborn’s and The Marketplace have times
reserved for those who are elderly or immu-
nocompromised to shop.
“We try to keep the traffic flow down to a
minimum and have people come in during a
quieter atmosphere,” Tipka said.
For those who do not want to go into the
store at all, there is an option to order grocer-
ies online and pick them up.
Glenn’s has also begun curbside pickup
and delivery. Kuck encourages customers to
contact the store at least 24 hours in advance
to ensure the availability of items.
The new arrangement has been working
well, he said.
“It was actually kind of cool because I
dropped off a big load of groceries in Howard
Lake,” Kuck said. “She had the check sitting
there for me. It was a smooth, easy transac-
tion. There was no contact between me and
her.”
Schroeder said plans are in the works for
The Marketplace to begin curbside pickup in
the near future.
Tipka noted that grocery stores are one of
many businesses that are adapting as new
recommendations are made.
“We’re looking at all the different chang-
es and trying to follow most of those rec-
ommendations from the CDC [Centers for
Disease Control],” Tipka said. “ . . . We are
having daily conference calls within Cob-
orn’s to continue as an organization to talk
about it with all retail establishments and see
what we’re going to do as an organization to
keep guests and employees safe.”
Schroeder added that it is a team effort.
“We’re definitely all in this together, so
we have to find a way to make it work,”
Schroeder said.
