Winsted veterans
memorial
Like many small American towns, Winsted
is fi ercely proud of its veterans. A Winsted
Veterans Memorial is being created to give
citizens and visitors a dedicated place to re-
fl ect and remember.
Located under the mature trees at the
southwestern edge of Hainlin Park, the me-
morial will be easily visible from McLeod
County Road 1 – the main artery into town.
The memorial will fi rst and foremost honor
the fallen and will give families the opportu-
nity to have their own veterans’ names dis-
played in the pentagon plaza.
Designed by Winsted native Mitch Littfi n,
the memorial is a place of intimacy and qui-
et. The Winsted Veterans Memorial commit-
tee worked to envision a unique, high-quality
memorial in which visitors could experience
bittersweet remembrance of fallen soldiers
as well as pride in those who served and re-
turned home.
Statues of service men and women will
ring the plaza, and several benches will be
provided for rest and refl ection.
As visitors turn to leave, they will see the
words “Never Forget.”
