ZOO from Pg 12
can be super fast, traveling at up to 40 miles per hour and
covering up to 25 feet in a single hop.
I was not traveling anywhere near that fast by the end of our
zoo adventure. We made it to every section except the Wells
Fargo Family Farm.
“If I want to see cows, we can go to your dad’s farm,” Scott
said. Because of the heat, I agreed that part wasn’t critical to
see this time.
Instead, we bought an iced coffee to split, and went back to
the penguin exhibit. We found a bench in the back, and were
entertained not only by penguins, but also by the children
watching the penguins.
On our way home, Scott and I agreed that a trip to the Min-
nesota Zoo is a wonderful way to spend a day. Hopefully it
won’t be another 15-plus years before I can go back!
Jack-o-lanterns
The Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular will take place at the Minnesota
Zoo Oct. 4-31.
The trail features more than 5,000 illuminated pumpkins of all
shapes and sizes, displayed in creative ways. Music and fog set
the mood for walkers as they enjoy the scenery.

This female white-cheeked gibbon blends in
with her surroundings at the Minnesota Zoo.
This species is critically endangered, and breed-
ing programs are in place in Minnesota and
around the world to help the population. Illegal
hunting is one obstacle to their survival, along
with declining habitat. Gibbons are made for
life in the trees, and they use their long arms to
swing from branch to branch.

At
Cedar
Crest Estate,
we believe purpose and
joy should be part of your
everyday.
Located on the shore of Silver Lake,
family owned and operated, Cedar
Crest Estate continues to grow and
advance in our approach to improve
the lives of the elderly we serve.
The gazebo at the end of this walkway provided a good view for spotting zoo
“wildlife.”
