Glove Award . In 1987 and 1991 , he became a World Series champion .
He was inducted into the Minnesota Sports Hall of Fame in 1988 , the Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame in 2000 , and the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022 . And the Twins retired his number 6 uniform in 1991 . Three decades later , Oliva still wows fans . When his name was mentioned , other people joined the conversation and began to talk about their memories of the baseball player . While the group from Delano talked about meeting Oliva , Frank Stone jumped in and shared a story .
Stone , who is from Blaine , retold the story about Oliva finding a 24-karat gold ring on a sandbar in Clearwater Lake in 2004 .
The ring , an award from General Motors , belonged to an auto salesman who lost it while swimming in the lake a few years earlier in 2001 , according to media reports about the incident . Olivia returned the ring to the salesman , who thought he had lost it forever .
