Grammy award-winning artist Rob Thomas returns to Hard Rock Live
with his 2015 North American tour! A gifted vocalist, spellbinding
performer and accomplished songwriter, Rob Thomas is one of the most
distinctive and accomplished artists of his generation. Between Matchbox
Twenty, his solo work, and his various collaborations with iconic artists
like Santana, Mick Jagger, Marc Anthony and Willie Nelson, he has sold
more than 80 million albums worldwide.
Rob Thomas formed the band Tabitha’s Secret in 1993, which eventually
became Matchbox Twenty. Some of the band’s most popular favorites
include “Push,” “3AM,” “If You’re Gone,” and “Bent”. In 2004, Thomas
was awarded the first Starlight Award by the Songwriters Hall of Fame for
having made a lasting influence in the music industry at such a young
age.
In 2005, after ten years with Matchbox Twenty, Thomas began his solo
career and released the album …Something to Be which quickly became
#1 on the album chart – making history as the first album by a male
artist from a rock or pop group to debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200
since the chart was launched. The single “Lonely No More” from the
album reached number six on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
Further countless hits are solo classics like “This Is How A Heart Breaks”
and “Streetcorner Symphony.” Thomas notably earned three Grammy
Awards for co-writing and singing “Smooth”– the triple-platinum Santana
hit. “Smooth” topped Billboard’s “Hot 100” for an astounding 12
consecutive weeks and spent 58 total weeks on the chart, the No. 1 song
in Billboard’s Top Hot 100 Rock Songs chart history and No. 2 Hot 100
song of all time.
After over six years, Thomas’ highly-anticipated new solo album
“The Great Unknown” was released this past August. Produced by a
remarkable roster of studio all-stars including longtime collaborator Matt
Serletic, Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé), Ricky Reed
(Jessie J, Jason Derulo, Twenty One Pilots), and Shep Goodman & Aaron
Accetta (American Authors), the album is sure to become a fan favorite.
