SHAWN GOOKINS / Vice President of Gaming Operations
Shawn Gookins joined Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood in 2008. In 2010 he became the Director of Table Games for Hollywood Classic
Casino and eventually made his way back to Hard Rock Hollywood in 2013 as Director of Table Games. Most recently, Shawn was
promoted to Vice President of Gaming Operations where he oversees all operations for poker, slots and table games. Shawn has
amassed a successful track record and has proven to be a valuable member of the Seminole Hard Rock team.
What makes the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood experience unique?
Well for one, we have amazing weather here in South Florida. We also reinvest
back into the property to constantly provide new and exciting products for our
guests.
What type of gaming do you like best?
I like playing Craps and Blackjack.
What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?
I love spending time with my wife and son and going to the beach, movies and
bowling. I also love to travel. We recently took the trip of a lifetime to Hawaii and
spent time snorkeling and paddle boarding on the North Shore. Not much that
can top that.
What kind of music do you like to listen to?
I really enjoy listening to all types of music. Music is the voice of the soul and it
has the power to influence you in so many ways.

What factors come into play when choosing what games
to put on the casino floor?
Obviously, one of the main factors is determining what our guests like.
We take all of our guests feedback into consideration when we are
looking for new games.
Tell us a funny story.
I made the mistake of buying my wife two dogs for her birthday. When I opened
the door to the backyard they started exploring their new territory and quickly
found themselves taking an unexpected dip in the pool. Well, as you can
probably guess, they didn’t know how to swim. So I had to jump in after them
and fish out the two dogs, and they haven’t stepped foot near it ever since.
