RIOFILME IS A PATRIMONY FOR CARIOCAS AND BRAZILIANS
Repositioning RioFilme in distribution is our main objective in the year
in which we celebrate our 25 year anniversary. Thanks to this DNA,
forged in the void left by the extinction of the Embrafilme national
distribution company in 1990, we managed to support, directly or
indirectly, nothing less than 320 Brazilian productions. A respectable
portfolio ranging from pioneer film Conterrâneos velhos de guerra to
celebrated titles such as Central Station and Elite Squad 2, and which
also includes films like the short Tailor, by 25-year-old filmmaker Calí
dos Anjos, recently awarded best director at Festival de Gramado.
We are proud of our past, our feet stand firmly in the present and we
keep our eyes on the future.
Within this logic, we are currently negotiating our involvement in
22 titles to be released in the coming months, the first one being
Encantados, by director Tizuka Yamasaki. But we do not only support
films. In our trajectory, we also have supported events like the Semana
Film Festival, which is in its ninth edition in 2017 and is living proof of
the importance of a decentralized audiovisual industry.
It is important that the whole industry converge on the same objective:
to strengthen Rio de Janeiro as the cinematic capital of Brazil. With
that goal, we can focus on what brings the industry together, acting
with transparency and establishing a permanent dialogue, with no
discrimination, with all players of the sector. After all, Rio is where
Brazilian cinema happens.
