SINOPSE / SYNOPSIS
Uma vila de pescadores tem o ritual de abraçar
os peixes na hora de pescar / logo após a
pesca. O gesto afetuoso que acompanha a
passagem para a morte atesta uma relação
entre espécies pautada na força, violência e
dominação.
Fishermen from a village on the northeast coast
of Brazil enact a ritual of embracing the fish
that they have caught. The affectionate gesture
that accompanies the passage of death is a
testament to a relationship between species
that is imbued with strength, violence and
domination.
BIOGRAFIA / BIOGRAPHY
Nasceu em 1982, em Maceió, mas vive em
Recife. Como artista contemporâneo, faz uso
de vídeo, fotografia e instalação para percorrer
a memória coletiva e a história, fazendo
uso de estratégias que misturam ficção e
realidade. Seu vídeo O levante (2013) integrou
a exposição MoMA exhibition Unfinished
Conversations: New Works from the Collection
(2017), com uma exibição pública de todos as
seus trabalhos anteriores em audiovisual no
Moma Films.

Born in 1982 in Maceió but currently living in
Recife. As a contemporary artist, uses video,
photography and installation to portrait the
collective memory and history, using strategies
that blend fiction and reality. The video O
levante (2013) was part of MoMA's exhibition
Unfinished Conversations: New Works from
the Collection (2017), with public showings of
all the director's previous audiovisual works on
Moma Films.
