SINOPSE / SYNOPSIS
Uma ode à liberdade de movimento,
associação e expressão. O filme presta
homenagem à diáspora das diferentes
ondas de migração e desafia o modo como
representamos nossas narrativas. Feito a partir
de imagens das edições de 1º de janeiro do
jornal The New York Times desde seu começo
em 1851 até 2013, Broken Tongue é um tributo
amoroso à performer de vanguarda Tracie
Morries e a seu poema “Afrika”.
An ode to the freedom of movement,
association, and expression. It pays homage to
the diaspora of the different waves of migration,
and challenges the way we represent our
narratives. Mainly made with images from the
January 1st issues of The New York Times since
its beginning in 1851 to 2013, Broken Tongue
is a heartfelt tribute to avant-garde sound
performer Tracie Morris and to her
poem “Afrika”.

Nasceu na Espanha e é cineasta experimental,
curadora independente e escritora. Radicada
em Nova Iorque, seu trabalho explora as
possibilidades cinematográficas do som e as
poéticas de vanguarda.

filmmaker, independent curator, and writer.
Currently based in New York, her work explores
the cinematic possibilities of sound and avant-
garde poetics.
