Prepare a Presentation
The Middle
People tend to remember the beginning and the end of presentations, so it is important to keep
the main body of the presentation clear and concise.
Break the content down into bite size chunks, which are easy for you to deliver and easy for your
audience to remember and digest.
Take each of your key points in order, and discuss them in more detail before moving onto the
next main point.
When planning the order and content of your presentation, it is a good idea to pause frequently,
and answer the following questions:
Is this relevant to the overall purpose of the presentation?
Does my audience need to know this?
Have I put it in the right place?
It is very important that the order of your presentation is logical and flows well. If you are in any
doubt, get a second opinion, ideally from someone who is typical of your audience.
The End
Make the End memorable. The first rule of ending a presentation is to END IT – clearly and
definitely. There is nothing more awkward than a presentation that fizzles out.
The end should be POSITIVE and must NEVER contain new information. However, it should serve
as a way of:
Highlighting the key points and any conclusion
and then either…
Calling for action, or…
Asking for feedback/opinions
Thanking people for their time
Introducing the next speaker
