Bridge: Before entering the forest
B. Hanging Bridge
Here is one of the longest hanging bridges
in Costa Rica at 264 m long. The bridge
connects our facilities to the rainforest that
we protect.
The bridge will allow you to cross the
Sarapiquí River, which runs 85 km from
Volcán Poás to the San Juan River (the
border with Nicaragua). The Sarapiquí is an
important means of transportation,
tourism, fishing, and hydroelectric energy
production.
These waters connect numerous
communities and environments and
come from the rains which have, for
centuries, molded the forest you are
about to visit.
If you look closely, you
may find some of the
bird species associated
with the river.
