Often overshadowed by hummus and baba ghanoush, muhammara is ready for the spotlight.
A decadent mix of smoky flavors and intriguing texture, each bite resounds with roasted red
peppers and toasted walnuts. The result is a sensational appetizer your guests will love.
INGREDIENTS:
• 1 cup walnuts
• 3 large red bell peppers
• ½ cup breadcrumbs
• 2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
• 2 tbsp. mild chile flakes
• 1 tbsp. tahini
• 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
• ½ tsp. paprika
• 2 tbsp. pomegranate molasses
• Salt to taste
DIRECTIONS:
STEP 1: Broil bell peppers in the oven until the
skins soften and char. Remove from the oven,
place in a medium bowl, cover with a towel
and let the peppers cool. Once cool, remove
the skin, ribs and seeds.
STEP 2: Combine the bell peppers with all
other ingredients in a food processor and
pulse until smooth. Season with salt as
needed.
GARNISH OPTIONS:
• Chopped walnuts
• Pomegranate seeds or a drizzle of
pomegranate molasses
