AMAZING USES FOR DRONES
BY JAMES HALPERN
From Amazon announcing drone deliveries to a cameo on South
Park, our culture has seemed smitten by these aerial angels. Since
the growth in popularity, people all over the world already had their
gears turning. “What could we make this fantastic little gadget do?”
Apart from hobbyist flyers, others have introduced drones into some
surprising capacities. Here are just a few ideas that people have
already pioneered.
PHOTO PERFECT
It’s no surprise that drones affixed with
cameras can acquire some beautiful
shots. That’s the idea that caused two
brothers, Sergio and Carlos Loaiza from
Greenville here in the U.S., to build
a drone that did just that. The team
used this idea to do wonders for their
photography business. Equally happy
are the Paparazzi, who are now able to
spy on celebrities in a whole new way.
SEARCH & RESCUE
Pars will fly to the victim and be able
to drop a ring into the water that the
victim can use to swim to safety.
THE ALCOHOL IS NOW DELIVERED
If going to the store to pick up your
favorite brew doesn’t tickle your fancy,
California, Las Vegas, and Minnesota
has now found a quicker (albeit cooler)
method. Using drones that can go as
high as 100 feet in the air at all times,
these ever surprising machines can
deliver copious amounts of alcohol to
companies or individual users. Just a
word of warning, these deliveries don’t
come cheap. A delivery can cost you
$20,000.
With the ability to fly extremely low in
an area without endangering the life
of victims, or crew, drones have now
found their way into search and rescue
missions. A company in Iran is currently
