“ It ’ s for everybody . Whether you ’ re watching that clock or whether you ’ re just looking to finish it , that ’ s okay ,” Gover said .

He added : “ It ’ s not an easy route , but as I ’ ve said before , neither is the cancer journey . ( The route ’ s ) not easy but it can be done . When you get done with it , you ’ ll know you ’ ve run or walked , for sure .”

The race ’ s start and finish line is

at the Alton Blakley business , with the course winding its way along Monticello Street and twisting its way through the parking lots of both the Center for Rural Development and Somerset Community College .

Gover thanked both entities for allowing the race to take place on their properties .

He also thanked the Somerset Police Department for making the route safe , as well as the many volunteers who are set up to direct participants along the course .

“ It ’ s been a fun event each year , and we ’ re really looking forward to another one ,” Gover said .

He also noted that it has grown in participation each year , and thanked the community for its support .

The race is set to take place on October 5 as a kickoff to National Breast Cancer Awareness Month .

Registration will be open until the

race ’ s start time of 8:30 a . m .

The race is part of the Lake Cumberland Run / Walk Series and counts towards participants ’ point totals in that series .
