One student came to me at Clifford ’ s funeral and said , “ Clifford introduced me to the world .” He was a student that had experienced Europe with Clifford . That meant the world to me . Our family vacations consisted of the beach , the US Tennis Open in New York , and a few ski trips .
But Clifford travelled globally many times and couldn ’ t wait to share that with students .
Clifford ’ s lineage and legacy comes from Clifford Randall , the wonderful Baptist preacher and evangelist . He also made whiskey barrels for Brown Foreman , but oh , he was so generous with his money . So many people had resources and medical attention thanks to him .
Also , Hobert T . Withers , who brought television and radio to Somerset , was grandfather . He flew his own plane and was a man ahead of his time . He was a servant and community treasure , as well . I am grateful for the outpouring of love and gratitude and appreciation that Monica , Greg and I have felt since Clifford ’ s passing . I love the communication from Clifford ’ s students and the many that showed up to celebrate him . The lineage and legacy Clifford leaves is about everyone of them . Hands touching hands in leading and following and in comfort and compassion . Our world was made up of just this . Clifford was brave , courageous and a warrior . I orchestrated every single slip and mile we drove with perfect percussion . As exhausted as our night could be ; we were faithfully renewed every single morning . God ’ s grace was sufficient . He was so perfectly good , as well as all of you .
