Maria J . Pyles : “ Compassionate , tells you about drug interactions from other specialists , listens to your concerns , helps find answers to what you are having issues with , will find a specialist when you are not happy with the one you have , and doesn ’ t rush your appointment !”
Sue Pogue : “ They have to listen . I consider myself to be the manager of my health and my doctor to be my star player . We have to communicate and work together . If not , that star player might as well stay in the locker room .”
Jeff Salter : “ One who listens to my own concerns and not just my replies to his / her questions .”
Karen Marshall : “ One that doesn ’ t over book so that when they change an appt it isn ’ t going to be June of 2024 before you can see them again !”
Britni Barron : “ A doctor who will figure out what is going on , no matter how long it takes ! Do the tests , every single one if you have to . CARE about your patient always !”
Lynn Santee : “ Seeing as how my husband was just in the hospital this past weekend . Somerset transferred him to UK . Coming in on timely fashion . I understand there are other patients to go to . Maybe we need more doctors so they can spend more time with each patient . If they have 100 questions , they can answer them and [ give ] reassurance because that person laying in the bed doesn ’ t understand doctors ’ language . Say it in a way we understand . Don ’ t get irritated when questions are asked and brush it off . Even if it ’ s the same questions . Be considerate it ’ s a lot for us . Doctors see it everyday but one going through it doesn ’ t . We were lucky to have some great doctors at UK that let us ask as many questions we had and stayed until we knew exactly what was being done , what happened , what to do after . Somerset seems to just brush you off . And that being said we need more doctors so they can stay longer with a patient instead of having 100 patients to 2 doctors . That is why we are not getting the attention needed .”
Sandi Yadon : “ Dr . Greg Sherry is a perfect example of a great physician ! He listens . He doesn ’ t rush you . He makes wise decisions and he always does what is best for his patients .”
Sheila Hansford : “ I look for a kind and compassionate doctor . I want a doctor that walks into the room upon first meeting and identifies his or herself and asks about you . I found that with Dr . Laura Pedersen . She asks questions and makes sure that she gets as much information out of you as possible . Then together we choose a plan for my health care . She makes me feel appreciated for choosing her as my doctor .”
Amy Janson-Raleigh : “ Someone who values , cares and respects me as a person . Also values my time . I want someone who will take the time to ask questions and allow me to ask questions . If I have an appointment time be reasonable in scheduling . If they are running behind let me know when I sign in .
Kathy McClure Burgin : “ One that realizes my time is as important as theirs . I can see waiting 15-20 minutes , but beyond that , it ’ s ridiculous .”
Judy Robertson : “ One that genuinely takes interest in your wellbeing and cares for you .”
Mari Mari : “ A doctor who doesn ’ t diagnosis you through a telephone .”
Shelly Malicote : “ A doctor who will spend more than two minutes with you to figure out what ’ s wrong . It ’ s all about the money these days and seeing as many patients as possible , instead of quality time with each patient to hear our concerns and get to the actual diagnosis instead of a reschedule .”
Angi Brown-Ashley : “ Some [ one ] who REALLY listens and does not rush me out of the office without understanding why I ’ m there .”
Cora Halsey : “ A doctor that remembers me .”
Danette Saddler Chumbley : “ One that actually takes the time to see what ’ s wrong with and figures out what is wrong with you , not one that comes in checks your vitals and writes a prescription and walks out .”
Jim Latham : “ I honestly don ’ t care if they are compassionate or not . They can have the personality of Mr Rogers or a Tasmanian Devil as far as I ’ m concerned . I ’ m also not that bothered by wait times . If a physician is delayed an hour or so in seeing me because they felt the need to spend more time with another patient to more fully understand their medical problem , I am fine with that . What I do look for is someone who is organized and shows attention to detail . I look for someone with a solid grasp of the principles of medicine who understands that while scientific algorithm has it ’ s place as a tool and guideline it is not the be all end all in the practice of medicine . The Doctor I look for is able to combine the information obtained from the patient interview and physical examination to form a hypothesis and then utilize their medical knowledge , scientific algorithm , and intuition based on previous experiences in order to formulate a diagnosis and develop an effective treatment plan .”
Jessica Case : “ One who listens to you ! And then makes sure they figure out a plan and makes necessary referrals . I also appreciate that my doctor goes through all options when making a medication change , like how long a change would take effect , side effects of other medications , etc . It was very helpful to get all the medication information before changing medication or making a dosage change . Ultimately I ’ ve gone with his recommendation but it ’ s nice to be educated first .
Ashley Pérez : “ I look for a doctor that is confident and knows what to look for when you explain your symptoms to them . I want a doctor that actually has a passion for his or her work and values their patients lives and wellbeing !”
