soil temperature , not air temperature . I really recommend people start about end of April or first of May before they really start to buy a lot of plants because you just take a big risk on those plants dying if you get them out too early .
“ There are some cold , hearty vegetable plants that some gardeners will put out early , but you need that soil temperature to get real good and warm before you put those out ,” Debord stated . “ That ’ s typically the end of April and into the month of May .”
