This photo is one of many featured in Scribner ’ s equine-themed 2023 calendar . The 12-month calendar features an array of horses that were photographed here in Kentucky .
Photo submitted recently he ’ s been “ shifting ” to more “ anatomical ” pieces . For the past year , his paintings have taken on more shape and definition , while still carrying semi-abstract qualities .
All the while , most of his work has been created in his studio , residing in the Cooper Community Arts Center in Downtown Somerset . Scribner started taking up residence in the arts center a little over two years ago . He credits the facility with helping him get the most public attention and community involvement he ’ s ever received .
Deb Stringer , the Cooper ’ s current director , adds that she ’ s found pleasure in how the art center has given him “ the opportunity to open up his artistic skills better to the community .”
On top of gaining a local foothold , his talents have even taken him overseas . In association with Live Global , a Christian-based organization that aids foreign ministries , Scribner had the opportunity to visit Athens , Greece . There he charitably commissioned a painting to Nea Zoi Ministries and got involved with other missionwork . He toured several other missions organizations and participated in a marathon fundraiser , which took place on the original route of the very first marathon .
He also hopes that he ’ ll have the opportunity to return there this year .“ I ’ ve been overseas before , but this was more historical and had more of an impact on me as far as biblical history ,” Scribner added .
For now , the visual artist finds himself more than content with creating his work here in his home of Pulaski County . You ’ ll most likely run into him when going to local art shows or see him with a booth set up at community events .
