Butler and Hicks both knew people who experienced MS .
“ If you see something out of the norm , make sure you address it . Don ’ t just ignore it ,” said Hicks . “ I have a cousin who has MS . He was a football coach in Florida , and his tell-tale sign is that he started having frequent falls , which was very unlike him . That started his medical journey .”
Butler has a couple of friends with MS who struggled with blindness . She said one of her friends lost his vision completely for a couple minutes at a time , then it would return inexplicably . That ’ s how he was able to catch the disease early on .
“ Each situation is different ,” said Butler . “ Each family ’ s needs are different .”
