“ Boujee is a furniture and home decor consignment shop ,” said owner Julie Cottrell . “ There have been many wonderful people who have brought us beautiful items mainly from Pulaski County , but we do have some consignors from other nearby towns .”
Selling furniture is a new twist for Cottrell , a Louisville native who spent most of her career as an elementary school principal , at Woodstock Elementary and then Northern Elementary , before retiring from education .
“ Last summer ... I was able to find some beautiful pieces for my house , and I thought that it would be great if Somerset had a place where we could shop for high-end home furnishings , but get them at a budget-friendly price ,” she said . “ That ’ s where the seed of this idea began .
“ I talked to my husband about it and he supported whatever I wanted to do ,” added Cottrell . “ When I talked to my daughter about my idea , she gave me the name .”
It was a name that Cottrell quickly fell in love with , she said . She credit Amanda McAuliffe with helping create the logo — which features a pooch named Tilley , “ a very special pet I had ... that became a quadripelgic during her lifetime .”
