With a new year brings new design trends and some of the creators from The Makers Mill weighed in on what we can expect to see trending this year .
“ The new year looks very jeweltoned to me . Lots of greens and warmer tones in the wall colors ,” Whitis said . “ We are moving away from the grays and colder tones we have seen over the past few years and moving into the moody elements like wallpaper and the deep dark colors in kitchens and living rooms .”
Jacinda Gilliland Foster and Rosella Roberts are no strangers to the home decor world . They also are makers represented at The Makers Mill . Foster and Roberts ’ business is a design source in window fashions , boats and homes . They provide custom textiles , wallpapers and upholstery . Much of the work is created by hand to create high quality pieces for customized spaces .
Foster says 2023 home design is getting its cues from nature . Bold colors like viva magenta and redend point are going to be the shining stars of spaces among bold prints represented in wallpaper , which is making a comeback .
“ This wallpaper isn ’ t like the one you remember from Grandma ’ s house in the 80 ’ s ,” Foster said .
“ Wallpaper has taken a new spin . People should see the options for themselves .”
Those who are interested can browse their selections of unique wallpaper from artists and other custom designs for the home and boat . A small sample of their services can be viewed at The Makers Mill .
Talking about nature , Friend of the Earth Macramé uses natural and recycled cord to create plant hangers and customized wall hangings with elements from nature . Driftwood gathered from the shores of the Lake Cumberland area is featured in many wall hangings . People can truly have a reminder of Lake Cumberland in their home , no matter how far away they might be .
“ The artists at The Makers Mill have done all the work for years to develop the skills they have ,” said Todd Clayton . “ As a collective we have done the work the last six months to create the space and now it can be fine-tuned into the vendors being showcased as makers and creators and get as many eyes on their work as possible .” Clayton says he really thinks The Makers Mill is beginning to make waves beyond the Somerset Community where the Makers Mill has had so much
