The Makers Mill , located in downtown Somerset , is a hub for local art , home decor and gifts .
This two story space owned by Jenny and Todd Clayton has created a space for local artists to make their products available for the community . A space where artists can come together and showcase and sell their art under one roof .
One local maker featured at The Makers Mill is Brittany Whitis , proprietor of Vintage Bleu by Brittany LLC . Her passion is to up-cycle vintage furniture and make it new .
Though her furniture may be vintage , she keeps her pieces up-to-date with the latest trends in home decor .
Whitis comes from a family line of makers and originates from the Appalachian town of Hazard , Ky . She and her husband customize pieces for the home , including cabinets , and have all the means to renovate a home from home decor touches , cabinets , paint and furniture .
“ To me , The Makers Mill is a one-stop shop when it comes to home decor . You can walk in with the idea of looking for coffee tables for a living room or lighting for your special space but can come out with locally crafted wooden spoons for the kitchen wall or a wonderful candle to set the mood ,” Whitis said . “ You can really get an entire feel for a room and everything you need right here at The Makers Mill .”
Custom pieces always bring the opportunity to use unique materials to create those special showstoppers you envision but don ’ t have the skills to see come to life . The Makers Mill provides the artists to make those dreams a reality .
The Maker ’ s Mill includes artist Bradley Gilmore , a Somerset local blacksmith who showcases his work with different metal and copper elements . He can forge customized railings , gates , jewelry and sculptures . The possibilities are endless .
