Another big selling point for the Parkeys was the townhome ’ s in-town location . While the Parkey ’ s home had the feel of rural area living , it was close to their workplaces and other locales they might travel to in their daily routines .
“ The biggest thing for us was that it ’ s in the city limits , but it ’ s not in the city school districts so we are not paying city school taxes ,” Parkey explained . “ There ’ s no maintenance involved with this home . We went from 8,900-squarefeet house with eight bathrooms to a townhouse with 2,400 square feet . It ’ s much more maintainable for us .”
“ All three of our daughters have left and gone away to school and to work ,” Parkey stated . “ It was a time in our life to downsize and kind of simplify our lives .”
With a smaller area and being part of a home owner association , the Parkey ’ s new townhome has made their lives much more easier .
“ Our previous house sat on 19 acres , and that was a lot to maintain ,” Parkey admitted . “ Now everything is covered by HOA . I don ’ t have to mow grass anymore , so I traded in my lawnmower for a golf cart .”
The townhome is the perfect size for the now “ empty nest ” Parkey couple , but has plenty of extra room when their daughters do return home .
