We Love Our Pets

We all love our pets . You certainly do , readers of Southeast Kentucky Magazine .
For this month ’ s edition , we thought it would be fun to put a spotlight on our animal companions . And not just articles — why not give readers a chance to send in pictures of their pets and give them a moment in the spotlight ?
After all , pet owners love showing pictures of their furry housemates . I know I do . My two cats , sisters Abbie and Jenny , have had their photos shown to anyone willing to look at them .
Well , you all responded . And in numbers much greater than I anticipated .
We received approximately 170 submissions from readers responding to our online prompt for pet pics . Wow ! You all really delivered on that . And unfortunately , with so many , not all of those will make it in . For those that didn ’ t , that ’ s nothing against you or your pets or anything like that — it ’ s simply a matter of space . Believe me , all of those cute critters are deserving of being seen , and I would have loved to have gotten them all in . We enjoyed seeing them , to be sure .
Elsewhere in this magazine , we ’ ll have a profile of one incredible dog who helps his community while being a loyal friend ; we take a look into the life of a pet sitter ; we talk to a local veterinarian ; and learn about the local animal shelter and branch of the Humane Society .
We also learn how to help prevent esophageal cancer , hear from readers about how they met their pets , and more .
So dig in , let your pet curl up with you , and enjoy this edition of Southeast Kentucky Magazine . We hope you enjoy all the tales — and tails — within !
