“ Instead of it being out in the street where it ’ s a little bit louder with all the things going on , hopefully we ’ ll be able to hear those musicians a little bit better ,” she added . “ It also gives you an opportunity to go inside those venues and check out some local businesses that are downtown . ... The intention of the festival is to bring people downtown , ( partly ) to show off what ’ s already downtown .”
With this year ’ s Foodstock coming up soon , Ikerd is pleased with the buzz around town about what will likely prove to be the hottest downtown event yet .
“ I see it on the faces ( of people ) the day of ( the festival ),” she said of the public ’ s interest and excitement in Foodstock . “ It ’ s a lot of work and then when you get to the day of , seeing so many families out of all ages , having a good time , enjoying their day , that ’ s what it ’ s about .”
Luke and Jenn Bates , owners of ProTrade BBQ Supply & Hardware , will supply the grills for this year ’ s event .
