Fast Friday July 27 Recap with Kyle Souza
Our Fast Friday season is hitting the second half, and the championship battles are starting to take shape as we head for the final weeks of the campaign.
This past Friday night, in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits, Devin Deshaies carried the checkered flag once again. Deshaies has been the fastest car since day one, and right now, I don’t see anyone beating him unless he runs into a major issue on the track. Deshaies took the lead early in the 15-lap feature and never looked back, scoring his fifth victory as we close out the month of July. Look for him to carry the big trophy unless he runs across a mechanical failure or a wreck in the final few weeks -- he's on one of the most dominant rolls I have seen in a long time at the third-mile on Friday night.
The 25-lap Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars feature came right down to the wire and it was Luke Lebrun who used the bumper to slide around Trenton Goodrow and take down his first career Fast Friday win. Even though Lebrun was victorious as part of the SLM Nationals, this was his first victory as part of the Friday night series. Goodrow ran a great race in the lead for much of the second half, but came up just short of the checkered flag.
The Pure Stock feature saw plenty of action throughout the field and it was Amy Arsenault who rolled into the winner’s circle. Arsenault has been struggling over the last year, trying to find the handling on the No. 9 Pure Stock, while her father, Sparky Arsenault, tried to help her get things straightened out. After some hard work, it seems like they finally have things going in the right direction. Arsenault followed right in the footsteps of her father, who won the last Sportsman event, and captured her own trophy. Welcome back to Victory Lane, Amy. She also locked herself into the final round for the Phil's Propane Triple Crown Series championship.
In the Bandolero Outlaws division, Connor Souza battled Tyler Tomassi throughout just about the entire race and was able to capture his third win of the year. Early on, Evan Marchand was forced to pull off the track which will cost him some points in the championship chase. Souza, Tomassi and Marchand have been the dominant three cars all season and they will likely decide the championship amongst themselves.
The only other feature on Friday night was the Sport 4 division, and in the end, Dave Gargaro took another victory behind the wheel of his No. 42. Gargaro rolled the bottom groove to the front this time, which was completely different than what he had done his last few wins when he used the groove up near the wall.
Even though the NASCAR Whelen All American Series divisions are off next week for a Thrill Show, the Fast Friday divisions will visit the track for their own racing. Come out and join us as we kick-off the month of August at the Action Track of the East.
