MARTINEZ OUTRUNS HARKIN ON WAY TO MINI CUP VICTORY

Zachary Martinez outran Maddie Harkin off the front row, then kept the front to himself all the way to the finish line of the 12-lap feature, which ran caution-free. He aquired Hugh Bowser as a chaser on that first lap, and Bowser, too, held position throughout the race, while Harkin settled into third and completed the journey from there. Michael Cooper and Kyle Pianka followed suit, keeping the feature to single file thoughout.

Pianka did, however, add drama at the very end when he and Tommy Harris got together with Pianka sailing high in the air, then coming down on his roof in front of the turn four pit ramp to end the feature. Emergency crews converged and when the had ascertained that Kyle was all right, his mini-cup was put back on its wheels by the assembled group. He emerged to applause and walked on his own to take a ride back to the pits for a checkup.

Martinez and Harkin started off going door-to-door across the stripe before Martinez forged ahead in turn one. Bowser went under Harkin to take second, and Maddie settled into third. It was the final pass of the race until Pianka’s inversion, but there were attempts made.

Martinez was a car ahead of Bowser on lap 3 as the field strung out and they ran single file. Pianka, running fifth behind Cooper, made attempts to get by, but Cooper held him off. Bowser then ran up to Martinez’ bumper and Harkin pulled in on his as the trio ran nose-to-tail.

Nikolas Frechette took a high route on lap eight to try to find his way around Pianka, bringing Harris to look underneath him. They dueled for three laps until the contact sent Pianka airborne and Frechette succeeded him in fifth, Ava Chouinard went to sixth and Zachary Levesque took seventh.

Final order of finish was Martinez, Bowser, Harkin, Cooper, Frechette, Chouinard and Levesque as the cars still running. Pianka and Harris were recorded as eighth and ninth.
