Wrong ways out
Overcoming an addiction
An addiction can be like an illness or a disease that needs treatment. Treatment for drug addictions may be far more complicated than treating ordinary illnesses, and it often includes long periods of time before an addict truly overcomes his addictions.
Once You Start, It's Hard to Stop!
Smoking
(Tobacco and shisha)
Smoking is a hard habit to break because tobacco contains nicotine, which is highly addictive. Like heroin or other addictive drugs, the body and mind quickly become so used to the nicotine in cigarettes that a person needs to have it just to feel normal
Shisha is tobacco sweetened with fruit or molasses sugar, so that it makes the smoke more aromatic than cigarette smoke. People often say it is healthier than smoking tobacco, but actually shisha also contains nicotine. As a result, shisha smokers are at risk of the same kinds of diseases as tobacco cigarette smokers, such as heart disease, cancer, respiratory disease, etc.
Drugs
Drugs are chemicals that change the way a person's body works. You've probably heard that drugs are bad for you, but what does that mean and why are they bad?
When people talk about a "drug problem," they usually mean abusing legal drugs or using illegal drugs, such as marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine, LSD, rohypol, and methamphetamine.
Illegal drugs aren't good for anyone, but they are particularly bad for a kid or teen whose body is still growing. Illegal drugs can damage the brain, heart, and other important organs. Cocaine, for instance, can cause a heart attack — even in a kid or teen.
