Sound suppressors reduce recoil and muzzle
rise. This contributes to better accuracy by reducing the
shooters tendency to anticipate recoil or “flinch”, thus
maintaining a consistent hold on the target through
the shot. Suppressor use also reduces the muzzle rise
of a firearm, making it possible for the shooter to “stay
on target” and follow up with secondary shots more
quickly. In full auto mode, the use of a suppressor
increases accuracy of full auto fire.
The operational use of sound suppressors is
growing rapidly. The antiquated mindset that they are
a tool for “assassins” is being replaced by a growing
understanding of how they work and of the operational
benefits of their use.
