We interviewed 40 students of eleventh grade and 50 students of sixth grade in the Nueva Colombia school, both men and women. We wanted to know the importance they give to the stereotype of beauty and how it affects them.

With the results of our survey we observe that 80% of the interviewed students, does not feel satisfied with their physical appearance, because the teens look for the approval of the society.

We think that our society has created stereotypes of beauty affecting the teens psychologically and emotionally. This problematic pretends that the most important in teenagers is the beauty and some people are rejected or accepted in the society if they follow or not this pattern. This has made that teenagers suffer from diseases as food disorders, anorexia, depression between others. Even it becomes an internal fight for being socially accepted.

To sum up, a constant accompaniment of the parents in the stage of formation of the personality can achieve that the young people have a high self-esteem, managing not to be affected for the opinions of others. The familiar bases are determinant in the way of solving the conflicts and on facing the social pressure.
