The presentation , introduces innovative systems designed to enhance maritime surveillance through advanced AI . The Multimodal Data Fusion and Analytics Group ( M4D ) of Information Technologies Institute ( ITI ) in Centre of Research and Technology Hellas ( CERTH ) addresses the challenges faced in maritime search and rescue ( SAR ) operations , including adverse environmental conditions , vast search areas , limited resources , and risks to SAR personnel . To tackle these challenges , the objectives for M4D / CERTH include preserving lives , ensuring rapid response , safeguarding rescue personnel , and efficiently utilizing resources . A key innovation presented is the ChoosePath ( CP ) tool , a remotely automated deployment platform for UAV swarms equipped with computer vision analytics . This tool enables remote planning and execution of UAV missions , eliminating the need for on-site pilots and providing real-time visual identification of objects . The presentation concludes by detailing M4D ' s computer vision analytics capabilities for SAR , such as drone-based surveillance , thermal imaging , automated object recognition , pattern recognition , real-time video analysis , 3D mapping , and motion detection and tracking , all crucial for effective maritime surveillance and rescue operations .
