" Maritime Domain Awareness from Seabed to Space : Intelligence Fusion in Countering Hybrid Threats "
Captain Panagiotis Tripontikas GRC N from NATO ' s Maritime Command introduces the critical challenges and opportunities in maritime security , with a focus on the Blue Economy . The seas are crucial for global prosperity but are increasingly threatened by piracy , terrorism , environmental disasters , and hybrid threats . MARCOM commands NATO ’ s maritime forces , ensuring operational superiority and collaborating with Allied navies to address those threats . Key operations include monitoring maritime activity , conducting security tasks like Operation Sea Guardian , and protecting critical undersea infrastructure .
So what does this mean for us ? It means the imperative to act is urgent and indispensable . The response to these challenges cannot be fragmented ; unity across nations , sectors , and maritime stakeholders is essential . The NATO Shipping Centre is a crucial platform for information sharing and partnership . By engaging with this Centre , stakeholders become part of a proactive network dedicated to maritime security .
So what do we ask of you ? Engage , collaborate , and contribute . The challenges we face demand collective resolve and action to ensure the security of our seas and the thriving of the Blue Economy . Indifference is not an option and the cost of inaction is too great , while the rewards of collaboration are significant .
