QB A.J. McCarron: The Heisman runner-up has had another fantastic season for the
Crimson Tide with 2,676 yards passing, 25 touchdowns and only five interceptions. As a
result, the Crimson Tide are looking for their third straight one-loss season and a third
consecutive BCS bowl win. While the Tide might not be preparing for their third straight
national championship game, McCarron will not let this team rest on its laurels.
RB T.J. Yeldon: The sophomore running back has had another
solid year, already rushing for over 1,100 yards for the second
consecutive season. Over his past three games, Yeldon has rushed
for an average of 144.7 yards per game. The Crimson Tide have a
major advantage in the trenches and should have no problem
opening holes for Yeldon.
OL Kellen Williams: Alabama starting right guard Anthony Steen is likely to miss the
Sugar Bowl due to a shoulder surgery. As a result, Williams will take over the vacant
spot on the offensive line. It is imperative that Williams is able to step into Steen’s spot
without chemistry issues arising on the offensive line. If he is able to do that, he has the
talent to dominate whoever the Sooners put in front of him.
LB C.J. Mosley: I mean no disrespect to A.J. McCarron and his amazing career.
However, I believe Mosley is the one who should have been representing the Crimson
Tide at the Heisman ceremony. Alabama has dominated college football over the past
three seasons because of its defense. Moreover, it is Mosley who keeps the defense in
order and coaches them on the field. With a month to prepare, don’t be surprised if
Oklahoma tries a few different alignments. It will fall on Mosley’s shoulders to make sure
that the players are properly aligned.
WR Kevin Norwood: The senior wide receiver is making the most out of his final
season with the Crimson Tide. Norwood has scored touchdowns in five consecutive
games, and if he can score a touchdown in the Sugar Bowl, it will likely be the nail in the
coffin for the Sooners. The Tide will have success on the ground. As a result, they will
eventually look for a big play in the passing game, and Norwood could be the recipient
of the next A.J. McCarron touchdown pass.
