members of the dynamic duo have pulled off the feat of throwing, catching and running
for a touchdown in the same game, and Lewis has done it on two separate occasions
this season.
The Owls did have success against the Aggies earlier
this season. However, the Bulldogs defense is far
superior to the Texas A&M version the Owls faced.
While statistically the Bulldogs have been average on
defense, their defense was stellar down the stretch,
allowing just four touchdowns over their last three
games.
Deciding factor of the game
This game will be won by the team that does the best job running the football. Neither
team is going to put major passing numbers up in this game. As a result, this game will
be won on the ground.
This would be the perfect game for senior running back LaDarius Perkins to find his old
form. He has underperformed most of the season running the ball, although he has
made plays in the passing game.
The good news is that the Bulldogs’ best rushing option is their quarterback, and he
should be close to 100 percent again after the time off.
Predictions
Rice is a very dangerous team, and the Bulldogs have been an inconsistent team. That
could be a recipe for disaster for Mississippi State. In my opinion, both teams will
struggle to move the ball early. However, the Bulldogs will use a couple trick plays early
and wear down the Owls late.
Score Prediction: Mississippi State 33, Rice 24
Stat Prediction: Dak Prescott three total touchdowns
