There is always one track on every record that really grabs ahold of you. This one track, at least for me, is “Kristy’s Song”. This track blew me away… Whitney’s vocal power is truly unbelievable. This boy from Burien may say he’s “Gruntry” and in fact he is for the most part… but the fact that a song like “Kristy’s Song” is even on this record shows Whitney is a lot more than “Gruntry”, he’s an extremely talented musician that possess and extraordinary vocal range, powerfully real lyrics and lessons to draw from courtesy of a life of hard knocks. imperdiet egestas.

On June 8, 2013 the Seattle music scene was put on notice. That was the day that the New Age Outlaw, Garrett Whitney released his 9 track album “The New Age Outlaw”. It is only fitting that Whitney, a Mental Itch recording artist held his album release at the notorious Louie G’s in Fife.

There is no more fitting name in music for a man like Whitney, The New Age Outlaw. With tracks such as “No More Rounds”, “The Ex-wife Song” and “Keep the Fame” Whitney shows a trueness in his lyrics that is often times lost in musicians. You can feel the passion and emotion in Whitney’s voice, you can tell he truly believes in what he is singing about.

The New Age Outlaw Garrett Whitney and his band JT Phillips and Jarratt Van Dyke combined to make this record what it is. It is a masterfully composed, expertly performed assault in reality that is so needed in todays world of phony and fake. Go ahead… say what you will… The New Age Outlaw Garrett Whitney and his band JT Phillips and Jarratt Van Dyke are just what the Seattle Music Scene needed. imperdiet egestas.
