“We represent the ‘softer shipbuilding’ part of the
marine industry,” Uusitalo continues.
“The main objective for the shipping company
is for passengers to enjoy a comfortable journey,
and the successful choice of products makes all the
difference here. Our range of products is a very visible as well as tactile part of the cruise. The products
need to be particularly easy to maintain and use,
and they must be wear-resistant. It is important that
even after several years of use, each passenger can
experience the feeling of entering a fresh cabin,
especially set up for them.”
“A central part of our expertise is product development and finding the right solutions for each
ship. Our Freedom range, in particular, is a prime
example of our persistent and successful mattress
development. Our most recent ship project on our
neighbouring waters is Tallink Galaxy; Finlayson
was responsible for supplying curtains, mattresses
and bedding for all cabins. These were designed by
Pirjo and Heikki Mattila at Aprocos Ky. For another
ship, Color Fantasy, we supplied curtains for the
buffet restaurant, and mattresses and bedspreads
for all cabins. The designer in the Color project was
Cecilia Kinnison.” ■
