What advice would you tell a younger version of yourself that is just starting out in their career?

It's a really good question.

I would say I would have liked to have done even more in the general marketing space before moving specifically into digital marketing. Gaining more exposure in all areas of business. Be open, be curious; speak to others in other departments and teams, understand their challenges and how I can help them solve those.

If you're empathetic to their challenges and able to understand the challenges they face then not only can you provide support but you add value. You become a far more effective team member.

How would you describe yourself in one word?

Complex.

Great answer, okay so now explain that a little bit.

So then based on that answer I have one more question. So what's next for Tom Halls? What do you want to learn that you haven't learned yet?

Yeah I mean I can be a bit scatter brained at times, jumping from one project to another. My current CEO when he hired me didn’t hire me for a specific role. We’d worked together previously. He said to me ‘I know if I put you in one lane you’re going to get bored, so let’s have you looking across the whole piece and see where you can add value’.

Gfinity is the first company I feel like I've been at where there's so many evolving projects in so many different places and I think that's what gets the best out of me. I love a wide variety of challenges. I don't like routine. I like things to be different each day and in the workplace, so complex is probably the best way I can describe that I guess.

Tom it is been an absolute pleasure chatting with you. Getting to know you. And thank you for sharing the journey of your career with the SEAT community and with myself.

Thank you very much. It's been a pleasure as always Christine!

The biggest part, and it's one that I'm starting to touch a bit more now that I'm getting more heavily involved in that side of it, is the commercial structuring and investment side of business. I've always been kind of a third party to that process.

That's not an area I've ever really looked at in depth, but I think it's probably an area where given my previous and current roles and skill set I can add value. I'm enjoying the discussions we have at a commercial and investment level as a PLC company. So yeah, probably the commercial and investment side of things.
