SEAT Global Magazine - Exclusive Interviews of Global Sport Executive Issue 09 March/April 2018 | Page 29

SEAT has been instrumental on a number of levels Christine.

Looking at the content first and foremost, we're a small organization where we’re generally not going to be the first mover in the technology space. So, it's great for me to be able to see those teams and venues that are really pushing the envelope in terms of technology and to see what's coming our way.

But there are always lots of things that teams and venues are doing now that any organization can tap into and apply them immediately.

The content has been fantastic and Atlanta for me just took another step up in terms of the content.

For me it was the best conference to date and you do in your own mind wonder, "What am I going to learn new this year? What's going to be different? What's going to keep bringing me back?" and Atlanta was just such a step up from even Vegas the year before in terms of content and I think this year will grow to another level.

Probably the biggest thing about SEAT for me is the people.

SEAT is such a cooperative environment. Everybody is willing to share their learnings. There are not many industries where the equivalent of a SEAT could occur.

First time attendees particularly those coming from smaller organisations with limited resources are often surprised that even the larger organisations have the same issues and challenges and it’s so powerful to have these discussions one-on-one outside of the conference itself, at the bar, in the corridors, with people who have done this before.

The great thing for SEAT for me, it's created this amazing network across the US and around the world.

In most cities there is probably somebody at the end of a phone that I can call and run something past them, and that's invaluable.

Over the years I've been able to create some great friendships and long may that continue. It's the most important event that I attend each year from a professional development perspective.

(Laughing)...yes, as the saying goes.. Ask for forgiveness way in advance. That's awesome Shane!!

You've been deeply ingrained in the fabric of SEAT for many years now, and with now being a member of the executive advisory board, share with me, how do you feel SEAT has helped your career?
