In 2014 the dynamic team of Severin Behnen and Corey
Carlson put together our first Opry show which celebrated
the best of the Grand Ole Opry from the 30s, 40s and 50s. Our
next installment of great country and western music takes us
from the mid-60s through the early 80s with music from Opry
icons like Willie & Waylon, Dolly & Loretta, Johnny Cash,
Merle Haggard, Glen Campbell, Charley Pride and Tammy
Wynette. This show features the Blue Canvas Orchestra with
Corey Carlson and special guests Andy Dee, Randy Sabien, Joe
Savage, Danielle Diamond, Emily Belanger and Lizzie Herriott. Warren Nelson’s 50th Year in Show Business, and 50 years
singing with Jack Gunderson! Big Top’s founder Warren
Nelson celebrates his 50th year in show business with a
concert of songs chosen from way back to now. He has
written over 500 songs and composed songs for 17 original
historical musicals including Riding The Wind. This evening
also marks the 50th year that Warren and Jack Gunderson
have performed together and they will include songs from the
years of the Lost Nation String Band. “I’ve been a lucky man
to have great musicians carry my songs on the wings of their
strings and tonight we travel the years.” Asleep at the Wheel has been the most instrumental force in
keeping Western swing music alive. They have released more
than twenty studio albums, charted more than twenty singles
on the Billboard country charts, and earned nine Grammy
Awards. They continue to introduce Western swing to new
generations on tour and take audiences on the ride of a lifetime
with their freewheeling, classic sound. Described by Reuter’s as
“one of the best live acts in the business,” Asleep at the Wheel
will be making their third appearance at Big Top, this time
joined by Texas musical icon Dale Watson. Watson is a country
singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He champions “Ameripolitan”
as a new genre of original music and has positioned himself
as a tattooed, stubbornly independent and slightly irreverent
outsider who is interested in authentic country music.
