LEARNING IN MOTION

Experience the World in Motion at the Raceways & Voltageville exhibit.

Zip, swirl, and twirl as you explore gravity, inertia, velocity and electricity in a setting that brings science to life. Connecting circuits at Voltageville illuminates not only light bulbs, but imaginations as well! Sending different sized balls down the fast-paced Raceways exhibit heightens anticipation as you discover what it takes to get the ball to the end of the track.

As visitors travel through a Walk Through Heart, they are able to learn more about their amazing body and the functions of the heart and respiratory system. At Pedal Power, visitors can race against each other on bikes through the Blue Ridge Mountains or play their favorite sport in the Virtual Sports Holopod, and discover how exercise has a positive effect on their health. In the Examination Room, pretend to be a doctor, surgeon or nurse as you learn about the various functions of the body and anatomy.
At a place like Amazement Square where children of all ages are free to explore exhibits on their own, nothing is more important than an area designated for our youngest visitors and their adult caregivers. The Big Red Barn is a place where toddlers ages four and under can learn how to milk a life-size cow and learn about life on a farm through books and interactive farm animals in a controlled environment.
