Sea X Row (Interior Major Project) – Nkem Usiade | Page 4
Brief & Client
Brief
Sea x Row is a water sports activity centre and
café, encouraging fitness and play. Aimed towards
young teens to adults the facility offers rowing and
SUP activities as well as an indoor VR rowing room.
A simulation for competitive rowing. The aim is to
encourage people to come to the esplanade and
participate in a fun and healthy activity with family
and friends.
User
The target user group would be 14-40 year olds.
The user age group has changed from my previous
intentions expressed in Part 1 magazine. I intend
for the space to be visited in groups whether friend
or families.
Client
My clients are the RYA (Royal Yacht Association)
and, Portsmouth city council. My main client will
be RYA as their values align with my intentions for
the space; promoting health & fitness, play and
water activity.
The RYA is an association supporting water sports
activities across the UK. Reading their mission
statement I think that Sea x Row will operate in
the participation area, in raising awareness of water
activities in a “Pay & Play” model (hourly slots
booked and paid for).
Portsmouth city council is also a client as my intention
for the space is to aid in coastal re-branding
increasing attraction to the island city.
