Sea X Row (Interior Major Project) – Nkem Usiade | Page 10
Colour theory
Class experiments with colour. Using collages I
explored the different shades and hues within a
colour. Rather than using a standard blue and yellow,
I considered the tone. What atmosphere and
mood would it create.
Considering the location of the rowing club I wanted
the colours to mirror the natural colours of the
sea. The sea near the site is a turquoise, sea-foam
colour surrounded by natural earth neutrals; the
colour palette is soft.
I want my design to exist as a soft transition from
sea to building. A comfy introduction to the seafront

I cut rectangles from a card I painted, I used the
rectangles to create a pathway and explored journey.
Layering the negaive over yellow acetate was
a way of how views can be altered. How a cut out
window could give pocketed views.
