bscure Musick is Corey Athos's label, with classic CDS of the kind and of bands that
in his epoch faced to the decade of the Black Metal and of Power Melódico's height
and the scene of the Heavy metal, though it was a stage where the mode they were
different, DEATH METAL I extract discs brutal and sharp, full of technology; it is the top of
lance of the stamp, to record extreme discs and in some cases re-edited with excellent
CDs, let's allow that Corey should tell us in this interview something of the label.
O
Obscure Musick
Then follow up with the labels. The bigger the
net the more fish your bound to catch. I got
contacted by Sevared and Lacerated Enemy and
I chose Sevared even though both are equally as
good. It came down to Jasad – Annihilate The
Enemy (which is tripped out because now that
album has been re-done by Obscure Musick and
released by OM and Sevared as a split release).
I heard them and said, I wanna be on that label!
So I signed, got my foot in the door and climbed
up the ladder to a 2 album contract with Unique
Leader Records (A label I wanted to be on since I
heard Disgorge). Hopefully that answered the
ques on. haha
5-which is the philosophy and OBSCURE's aim
MUSIC?
1-Tell Us the beginnings of OBSCURE MUSICK
First of all I would like to thank you Ricardo and
Scumzine for the interview! Well Obscure Musick was
formed in 2010 with Ma
Way and myself.
Unfortunately due to personal issues we had to
discon nue the label. 2015 rolls around and I'm talking
to my dad about music and music business ad he brings
up that I should start up Obscure Musick again to I'm
going for it again and am so glad I did.
2-what condi ons normally does it offer to the
bands?
I don't know if talking about contracts is Kosher or not
but fuck it. Usually CDs, Casse es, Shirts, and Digital
Sales. Artwork, Layout, Logo, Money depending on
contract..It just all depends on the persons or bands
want or needs. If they rather have more CDs than
Digital Download royal es than we can balance that
out and what not.
3-speak to us from how the bands came, LITURGY,
D I S S O N A N T F AT E . D E S S O L AT E D , A Z O I C ,
PESSIMIST, NAILS OF IMPOSITION? And that you
can say to us with regard to each of the bands?
Liturgy – Classic album Dawn Of Ash re-mastered, new
art and layout. Also Liturgy A.D. formed and signed to
OM recently. With Jon Engman and Ma Way.
Dissonant Fate(Existence Denied, the band changed the
name) – insane musicianship, great songs just a well
rounded band.
Azoic – Killer obscure band from Iceland. Really unique
with killer art. Aazing musicians!
Dessolated – Killer thrash from down under. Great
guys!!
Pessimist – Olds school death metal (but punishing,
definitely killer for the new school guys too)with 3
classic albums all being revamped by Kelly and Obscure
Musick. All re-mastered buy Punchy (Morbid Angel,
Nile, Hate Eternal etc.). Sounds amazing!
Nails Of Imposi on – What a killer band. From
Australia. Very unique and technical with badass
musicianship.
I really love all the bands on the label! I'm not really
worried what people think or what genre I should
exclusively put out. I put out what I want to hear
because if I like it I'm certain other people will too.
4-how does it take the decision to work with these
bands, for the records?
I don't quite follow but I'll give and answer which is
probably not rela ve. A band decides to make an album
and release it under a label like I once did. I made about
30 physical press kits with Bio, Pics, Songs, etc and send
them to all the labels I could find.
The philosophy or moral standards for OM is to
treat the bands right, be honest and release
quality material from people that I can consider
friends with no egos. You can be the best band
and have a bad a tude, fuck you and fuck off!
6-what other projects you have or bands, are
they low the records?
Damn.. Cinerary, Flesh Consumed, Ur Draugr,
Death Vomit, just signed Fragmented Aura,
Sadis c Hallucina ons, Limbspli er, Endless
Misery, Abyss, Nekrogoat, Lustravi, Metazog,
and a comp, a couple splits with Nuclear
Powered Satan. I know I'm forge ng someone,
sorry dudes.
7-how do you observe the scene of the death
metal nowadays? And that bands impress you
in the moment?
Well with social media like facebook, twi er,
etc and companies like bigcartel, bandcamp,
cdbaby ect. It makes it real easy to get your
music out there. Tape trading is fun and
nostalgic but face it nowadays you can punish
the world way easy with that follows shi y
bands and just waves of shit but once in a while
you'll find really great band. I don't mean
waves of shit but I've no ces a lack of a en on
to detail and sloppiness/cu ng corners. As for
the music I think it was more exci ng then or I
was just young and that's why it was exci ng.
Now a days there are many watered down
Xeroxed bands that Xerox a Xerox if you know
what I mean. A lack of originality than back
then. I got into death metal in 5 th grade and I
remember the first CD was Grave ..And here I
die..sa sfied. single and at first I could even look
at the cover, something blasphemic, or listen to
it un l I got the balls to a few days later. Now
the tolerance and acceptance has increased
there for less shock value.
8-which do you believe that it is the strongest
scene in the world?
Indonesia.
9-future Plans
Con nue to hack away at the label, the bands I'm
in and the zines I work for. First and foremost
please the fans. Put out something unique.. shit if
I wanna hear Suffoca on I'll pop in Pierced From
Within. I want to hear some originality and that's
why I love the bands on OM's roster.
