Steering helm and remains of the wheelhouse
Remains of the ship ’ s wheel
Ribs covered in life
We make our way back through the centre of the wreck towards the stern , my favourite area . The visibility is an exceptional 20 metres , far better than we could ever have hoped for , and our time ticks away all too quickly . In what was once the wheelhouse , a perfectly intact toilet stands upright and proud , its wooden surrounds having long rotted away .
There is other evidence of what remains of the wheelhouse , including the ship ’ s wheel . The ribs of the cargo hold make another great shot , as does the ladder up to the boilers and engine bay , bedecked in the brightly coloured anemones .
Passing around the boilers we are soon inspecting the engine . The triple expansion
