Final thoughts
As we drew to the end of the week , the weather began to close in , and we were unable to dive on Thursday afternoon or Friday . On Friday , we bade farewell to George , who accompanied his compressor back on the Spanish John 2 . Sands , Janet and Keith spent the day exploring Inverie in the wind rain . Finally , on Saturday , the final three took the remaining gear back to Mallaig , recovered Safina and began the drive back to Edinburgh .
We had a fabulous week . We had the satisfaction of being in a remote and beautiful part of Scotland . We were self-sufficient for our diving activities , picking our own dive sites , filling our cylinders and maintaining our boat . We had a number of challenges to overcome through the week , demonstrating that no matter how hard you plan , sometime you just have to adapt .
Through my training and having learned from other members who organise expedition and adventurous diving , I was able to deal with logistical issues or incidents and make the most of an adventurous week .
We have arranged our trip for 2022 and are going to Unst in the Shetland Isles . The most northerly inhabited island of the British Isles . All six of us who were involved in this trip are going again and we are bringing a further four people with us . We must be doing something right !
