How did you manage a group of 20 divers ?
We took up the best part of four shuttle runs daily for the charter boat Kitten and skipper Dave . We divided into two boat teams ; the trip ’ s Assistant Dive Manager looked after the A team and the trip ’ s Dive Manager looked after the B boat . We dived some classic sites including : the Mohegan , a wreck with history and a ghost story ; the Volnay , an impressive size with loads of life using it as a home ; Vase Reef : a classic
reef on a massive scale and teeming with life ; Darren ’ s Crack ; and Raglan Reef . As expected , on the reefs we were treated to a feast of dead man ’ s fingers , pink sea fans , sea cucumbers , sea urchins and sea slugs . It was also reassuring to see increasing numbers of crawfish .
What about après diving ?
The trip organisation group believes that the social side of trips is as important as the diving and so had prepared a full agenda .
On Thursday night , Fat Apples café opened in the evening especially for us and provided the most delicious food , consumed outdoors in the late afternoon sunshine and very pretty surroundings . This is a firm recommendation to all visiting clubs .
After the first day ’ s diving on Friday , Porthkerris Divers organised a picnic dinner , served from the café on site . The food was simple and mouth-watering , matched by live music entertainment .
