New BSAC Centre for Lanzarote
AQUATIS DIVING IN LANZAROTE IS THE latest overseas BSAC Diver Training Centre to come onboard, following a recent Instructor Crossover Course( ICC).
Based in the resort of Costa Teguise on the east coast of the island, Aquatis Diving was established in the 1980s as one of the first diving centres on Lanzarote. The popular centre has been owned by Sam Hutchinson and Remi Andris since 2023.
Sam, alongside his business partner Remi and centre instructor Theo Alderweireld, completed the ICC back in May, meaning
Aquatis Diving can now offer BSAC diver training up to Dive Leader.
Sam said becoming a BSAC Diver Training Centre was a natural progression.
“ We already welcome many UK divers, including BSAC members, and wanted to be able to support them fully while also introducing new divers to the BSAC training pathway.
“ BSAC has an excellent reputation for producing confident, self-reliant divers, and that philosophy aligns closely with our own approach to teaching. Being a BSAC
Training Centre also allows us to better serve the many BSAC members who visit Lanzarote throughout the year.”
Aquatis Diving can now offer BSAC clubs and members guided diving, training, refresher sessions and support for club trips.
“ Lanzarote offers fantastic year-round diving with warm, clear water and volcanic underwater landscapes. We dive many of the island’ s best sites, from the rugged north to the calm shallow south with huge schools of fish. We’ re excited to become part of the BSAC community and look forward to welcoming more BSAC members to the island.”
Welcoming Aquatis Diving, BSAC’ s Diver and Training Advisor Julia Branagan said that the number of overseas centres was continuing to grow, providing more value for members.
“ As well as Aquatis, nine new BSAC resort centres have been added over the past month, giving members and clubs even more choice when they embark on their dive travels. The Centre Finder on BSAC’ s website also makes it easier to search for all our overseas centres, whether that’ s for training or to dive on holiday.”

Diver Training Days
LOOKING TO CONSOLIDATE YOUR existing skills, catch up on the open water training sessions or brush up on your diving knowledge? Check out BSAC’ s Diver Training Days.
Regionally-organised, Diver Training Days could help you work towards or complete your diver training – whether it’ s Ocean Diver, Sports Diver, Dive Leader or Advanced Diver.
They are designed to support your current training as well as help to take pressure off clubs who may be short of instructors. They are also a good option if you want to fast-track your training or need a more flexible way to progress to the next diver grade. They can also cover both theory and practical lessons.
As part of a Diver Training Day, your regional team will offer each student at least two open water lessons a day. And sessions can be tailored to the needs of your group, meaning your club also benefits.
BSAC HQ Coaching Lead, Adrian Collier, said that the Diver Training Days are a fantastic way to supplement the training members receive within their own club.
“ These days provide the opportunity to complete and have key training elements signed off, meet new dive buddies, and learn from experienced Regional Coaches and Instructors. They’ re also an excellent excuse to explore new dive sites and experience training outside your own region, broadening your diving experience while becoming part of the wider BSAC community.”
To find a Training Day near you, go to the courses section of your MyBSAC portal and search‘ Diver Training Days’. You can then book your place online. For more information on BSAC’ s Training Days, go to bsac. com / trainingdays
Members can also request a Training Day if one is not available for their area by contacting their Regional Coach – bsac. com / coaching
