Mooring Lighter No. 8 was involved in the raising of HMS Eurydice in 1878, and is included in the contemporary illustration from‘ The Graphic’, 1878, and a painting that is part of the Royal collection at Osborne House, Isle of Wight. Mooring Lighter No. 8 can be identified in the image( above left) as the right of the two barges, the‘ 8 ' visible on its stern.
