Yo-Han Cha fulfills a long held dream by visiting the Lembeh Strait , the celebrated Mecca for the world ’ s strangest critters .

Indonesia ’ s Lembeh Strait had been high on my bucket list for many years . Almost all of my underwater photographer friends seem to have been there , returning with many incredible photos of the myriad fish and other creatures that inhabit what some call ‘ the ocean ’ s strangest square mile ’. So when my friend Rick Ayrton asked if I ’ d be interested in a trip to Lembeh , the answer was of course , “ Yes !”. Rick normally likes to dive deep wrecks , so I was surprised when he suggested an area known primarily among close-up or ‘ macro ’ photographers . Nevertheless , once I ’ d recovered from the surprise , we set about booking a trip at NAD Lembeh Resort for two weeks .

Due to slightly different travel itineraries , Rick and I would be meeting up in Singapore , despite both of us living in South West England . I had a nerve shredding 90 minutes to catch my connecting flight to Manado on the north-
